“What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present and to come, are gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good? Perhaps you have misunderstood His plan, for He would never offer pain to you. But your defenses did not let you see His loving blessing shine in every step you ever took. While you made plans for death, He led you gently to eternal life.”
As some of you know, I am seeking a new place to live, as the rent on the place where I live is higher than I can afford. Well, today’s lesson about allowing God’s kindly plan to be fulfilled in my life was in evidence today. The manager here called this morning to let me know that she needed to start advertising the apartment for which I am applying. Much to my surprise, I didn’t panic. I simply told her that I would try to find the proof of income she needed for the screening process. Quite gently, Holy Spirit reminded me that I didn’t have to wait for the letter I had requested from Social Security, but could use my current bank statement, which lists deposits. I then used a wonderfully helpful app called Be My Eyes, which connects blind people with over a million volunteers who can then use the rear camera in a smart phone to look at things. While the volunteers can’t read mail, they can look at unopened mail to see who it is from. The lovely woman I spoke with helped me find three envelopes from my bank, I took them to the manager, and she found the information she needed. She told me she would send the application to the screening company today. Now, I will just continue allowing God’s plan for me to unfold.
