Lesson 136 – Sickness is a defense against the truth.

Important for me here is to recognize that only my mind can be sick. Yes, I experience sickness in the body but I have to remember that here in the world the body will do what it will do. It is limited and thus it will die. When I accept the truth of what I am, I join in the Oneness with God. God did not create the body. We made it with our attempt to be separate from God, just as we made this entire illusion of the world.

Yet, we are pretty rooted in this world. It is hard to wrap our minds around this idea of “everything is an illusion” so we do what we must here. Can I heal what is going on in the body? Sure, our minds are powerful. Will it stay healed? It could and it could not. The body was made out of guilt from the separation. Anything here in the world can shift and change. Our focus should not be on to heal the body, but to heal the mind. When our focus is on peace as our one goal, we will be peaceful regardless.

Lesson 137 – When I am healed I am not healed alone.

“Sickness is isolation”

Health is joining. Health is inner peace (Jesus describes “health” early on in the Text). Students can become afraid of this idea especially if they have been used to other philosophies and modalities. Certainly, we can do what we need to do here in the world to help us feel better, i.e. exercise, eating naturally, taking herbs or meds, etc. It really doesn’t matter what we DO in the world but rather how we THINK while we are here.

“Healing is freedom. For it demonstrates that dreams will not prevail against the truth. Healing is shared. And by this attribute it proves that laws unlike the ones which hold that sickness is inevitable are more potent than their sickly opposites. Healing is strength. For by its gentle hand is weakness overcome, and minds that were walled off within a body free to join with other minds, to be forever strong.”

I am never healed alone since I am one with everyone here. When I recover in my body, it doesn’t do anything for everyone here, but healing my mind affects all. That’s the difference: form and content. Form = the world and Content = the mind.

So we don’t get tangled up in the world and what other teachers, gurus, religions, spiritual philosophies say, we just remember:

“When I am healed I am not healed alone. And I would share my healing with the world, that sickness may be banished from the mind of God’s one Son, Who is my only Self.

When I am healed I am not healed alone. And I would bless my brothers, for I would be healed with them, as they are healed with me.”

Namaste,

Since you’re here… …we have a small favor to ask. More people are reading our posts, listening to our audios and watching our videos than ever before but far fewer are donating for it. As an all-volunteer ministry, you can see why we need to ask for your help. MiraclesOne provides ACIM resources freely however it takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe in encouraging others to practically apply the Course principles in their lives – because it might just make the one difference in your life. If everyone who reads, listens or watches and likes what we offer helps to pay for it we can continue to afford our expenses and keep our resources FREE to all ACIM Students. Monthly Donors receive free gifts in appreciation for their support.
