135 – If I defend myself I am attacked.
136 – Sickness is a defense against the truth.
What is there to defend when I am secure in what God created? Defense can come out so subtly that I/we cannot even recognize it. It can be an idea someone has shared with us and immediately we defend and make excuses. There is nothing to defend or excuse. God created “us” as He did.
Indeed, I have done this myself. I cannot accuse others of doing so if I don’t hold the mirror up to myself. No guilt is needed just self-awareness. Self-awareness can lead me to recognizing the cause and stepping into healing.
As Jesus tells us in A Course in Miracles, only the mind can be sick. Sickness is a decision but the better decision is for Heaven. Sickness is a defense I use to keep God and the Sonship at bay. I can admit this and know. The body does not feel at all. Wild thoughts, right? It sure seems this way.
However, as I take Jesus at his word, and remember the key sentence before these review practices, “My mind holds only what I think with God,” then I will come to understand and witness healing as it flashes across my open mind.
There is no need to conceal my Self any longer from God, I am here, accepting Your Love for me.
