Keys to this Lesson
We defend ourselves because we believe that the attack is real.
We feel threatened really by an illusion.
It is illusion upon illusion that we defend against.
Defense is frightening. It stems from fear as each defense is made.
What do we defend?
Something that we believe is weak and easily assaulted.
It is the body that we believe needs to be defended from attack.
But the body is not the Son of God.
If you defend the body then you have attacked the mind.
You do not see the mind as separate from bodily conditions.
A healed mind does not plan but carries out plans given to it from listening to wisdom from the Holy Spirit.
We think we are enslaved to the body for that is what the unhealed mind believes.
Defenses are the plans that we undertake to make against the truth.
What is the truth?
We, our Self, are not bodies. We are spirit.
God would never offer pain to us.
Our defenses do not let us see God’s love and His blessings.
Put trust in God and without defenses we become a light which Heaven acknowledges as its own.
We will be led as we practice today.
15 minutes twice today.
Rest from planning and every thought that blocks the truth.
Today we receive instead of plan.
Say to yourself:
If I defend myself I am attacked. But in defenselessness I will be strong, and I will learn what my defenses hide.
If there are plans to make you will be told of them.
You will receive answers but not to the questions you think need answered.
In your practice today you will wonder why you defended so much for so little.
Today is your Eastertime.
You will gain so much today from your practicing.
Throughout the day, as foolish little things come to you to raise defensiveness in you and tempt you, remind yourself that today is a special day for learning, and acknowledge this by saying:
This is my Eastertime. And I would keep it holy. I will not defend myself, because the Son of God needs no defense against the truth of his reality.
