“You who will yet work miracles, be sure you practice well the idea for today. Try to perceive the strength in what you say, for these are words in which your freedom lies. Your Father loves you. All the world of pain is not His Will. Forgive yourself the thought He wanted this for you. Then let the Thought with which He has replaced all your mistakes enter the darkened places of your mind that thought the thoughts that never were His Will.”
Jesus is not telling me to be a bliss ninny; instead, he is telling me that the darkness I experience is no more real than are the nightmares I experience in sleep. When I wake up from one of these frightening dreams, I don’t say to myself, “Wow! I’m glad I escaped from that monster.” Instead, I say, “Whew! That was a scary dream. I’m glad it wasn’t real.” Just so, I’m to look with Jesus on the frightening experiences I seem to have when awake, and remember that they are just vivid dreams, which I’ve made up to punish myself for non-existent sins . Let me remember my Father’s love.
