Review: 93 – Light and joy and peace abide in me.
94 – I am as God created me.
Be willing today to take the time for the practice periods. If you forget on the hour or half hour, just practice when you remember. It’s easy for our ego to sway us from even practicing at all.
As Jesus has told us in the Review Introduction:
But learning will be hampered when you skip a practice period because you are unwilling to devote the time to it that you are asked to give. Do not deceive yourself in this. Unwillingness can be most carefully concealed behind a cloak of situations you cannot control. Learn to distinguish situations that are poorly suited to your practicing from those that you establish to uphold a camouflage for your unwillingness.
What holds us back from practicing is listening to the ego’s voice. It can be as simple as “Do it later” or “You are too busy” or “You already skipped some already, just restart the lessons over again.” Instead, start then and there and let go of what was before that moment.
You do want to know you are filled with light, joy and peace. You do want to know you are as God created you. How can you know this unless you practice? How can you know this if you are still berating yourself at every turn. The ideas need to be repeated until they become your very breath. God loves us and wants us to remember.
I know this myself because it happens to me as well. I don’t need to pretend I am so evolved, more so than others. We are all on the path together. As I tune into how I feel, and if I feel off kilter, I can renew my commitment to slowing down, making time to practice the lessons, reorient my goal towards peace instead of the completion of tasks in the external world. I remind myself that my inner world is my primary concern. My thoughts show me the world I see and experience. A few minutes or more each day is a self-love and self-care gift to myself.
