I rest in God.
How many times do we say to ourselves, “I just need a break. I just want to rest my eyes for 5 minutes,” but we just don’t do it. I have experienced it as well. I remember saying years ago, “I just want peace and quiet in my home,” yet I was in turmoil because of circumstances at the time.
Here we are with this lesson’s wisdom. I only need rest IN GOD. The answer to what we think we need. It’s not rest in THE WORLD; it’s resting IN GOD. Quite a difference.
At our retreats we offer in-person and virtually, we spend the weekend learning, sharing, meditating and actually resting in Him. It makes a difference to all those in attendance, myself included. But we don’t have to go away somewhere to do so. We seem to want this peace so desperately in our lives. We want to step away from our problems and concerns, our fears and our conflicts. We have been given the solution.
“I rest in God” is sufficient. It will meet our needs. I know it meets mine. Jesus asks us for FIVE minutes today, once an HOUR. Is it really too much to ask? I think not if peace and rest is desired and important for me. And it is.
