“There is great peace in today’s idea, and the exercises for today are directed towards finding it. The idea itself is wholly true. Therefore it cannot give rise to illusions. Without illusions conflict is impossible. Let us try to recognize this today, and experience the peace this recognition brings.”
As I mentioned, I’m a lark–a morning person. For this reason, I do my morning meditation as soon as I get up. When I sat down a few minutes ago, I was determined to seek and find the peace that knowing there is but one will brings. Did I? Yes, but not immediately. The ego fears such peace, because finding it means its undoing. So it threw out all kinds of distracting thoughts–about going to the grocery store later today, about what I might eat for breakfast, etc. So I tried again, and peace came–briefly. Then the distractions started over, so that I had to repeat today’s ideas and the related thoughts several times. This cycle continued until the meditation was over. Did I feel discouraged? In the past, I would have said yes, but now I just smiled. The ego can be vicious, but much of the time, it’s just silly. May you all find peace today.
