“You have surely noticed an emphasis throughout our recent lessons on the connection between fulfilling your function and achieving happiness. This is because you do not really see the connection. Yet there is more than just a connection between them; they are the same. Their forms are different, but their content is completely one.”
In case I think that the Course asks me to abandon reason, there is this lesson, in which I am urged to think about certain premises which lead to a conclusion-that my happiness and my function are the same. If forgiveness ( my function) means letting go of the past and the future and living as far as possible in the present, then happiness is inevitable as I will neither ruminate about dark memories or worry about what will happen. No, I’m not there yet, but at least I’m willing to consider what Jesus says here about the love of God and the truth of Truth.
