I had to do a bit of research before writing about this lesson, because the word “salvation” has quite a different meaning in the Course than in other traditions. If my only function is to become one of the saviors of the world, what does that mean, and how do I do it? Well, first of all, I don’t do it alone.
With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Voice for God, I learn how to let go of the illusions I have made that have kept me bound to the world-illusions of fear. That doesn’t mean ignoring these illusions or trying to cover up my feelings of fear; it means allowing my inner Teacher to correct my interpretation of what I perceive as fearful. That is not easy, but it is necessary if I am to accept my true purpose for being here.
“Salvation is a promise, made by God, that you would find your way to Him at last. It cannot but be kept. It guarantees that time will have an end, and all the thoughts that have been born in time will end as well. God’s Word is given every mind which thinks that it has separate thoughts, and will replace these thoughts of conflict with the Thought of peace.”
