Ah.. this is the lesson I refer to most frequently. Particularly the second paragraph. We think we know what will present happiness to us. We think we know what will make us feel safe and secure. We think we know PERIOD, and really we know nothing. The ego will tell us what it knows and it knows how we can be happy and experience salvation if we just follow its “great ideas”! Those ideas are judgmental ideas. If I hold this grievance until my face turns blue then I will get what I want!
No it says this:
The ego’s plan for salvation centers around holding grievances. It maintains that, if someone else spoke or acted differently, if some external circumstance or event were changed, you would be saved. Thus, the source of salvation is constantly perceived as outside yourself. Each grievance you hold is a declaration, and an assertion in which you believe, that says, “If this were different, I would be saved.” The change of mind necessary for salvation is thus demanded of everyone and everything except yourself.
If someone or something outside of me changed, I’d be okay and I wouldn’t have to do any mind healing at all. It’s their fault, they need to do the work on themselves. If they would just do that work and be a better person, be a better Course student, be polite, be kind, be perfect, or be what I expect them to be, then I wouldn’t have to be in a tizzy about all of this. This is tiring so why can’t they just do what I want and save me time?!
No, my friend, it is we that needs to take the time individually within our own very mind and make the choice. Yes, it seems easier if the other did it first. But that leaves you then as a victim of outside circumstances rather than the powerful being you are. Accept the power of your holy mind and use it! It is God’s plan for salvation that we use our holy mind. Don’t get angry about the fact we have to use our God-given Mind, instead if you need help to release into joy follow what He shares with us:
Ask Him very specifically:
What would You have me do?
Where would You have me go?
What would You have me say, and to whom?
We are always heard by the Voice for God, are you will to listen in exchange?
