I thought it would be helpful to all of us, myself included, to reference a section in the Text that I believe to be a precursor to the entire WB.
It is Chapter 14, Section XI, The Test of Truth. I have referred to this section many times throughout the years and always find it to be what I need to revisit when I am so very driven to understand my practice of any WB lesson.
Some quotes are:
“Your (it is italicized in the Text, I don’t know how to do that on my computer, sorry) learning gives the present no meaning at all. Nothing you have ever learned can help you understand the present, or teach you how to undo the past. Your past is what you have taught yourself. Let it all go (whole sentence is italicized). Do not attempt to understand any event or anything or anyone in its “light” for the darkness in which you try to see can only obscure. Put no confidence at all in darkness to illuminate your understanding, for if you do you contradict the light, and thereby think you see the darkness.” Paragraph 3, sentences 4 through 9.
Skip to paragraph 6:
“Your part is very simple. You need only recognize that everything you learned you do not want. Ask to be taught, and do not use your experiences to confirm what you have learned. When your peace is threatened or disturbed in any way, say to yourself:
I do not know what anything, including this, means. And so I do not know how to respond to it. And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.
By this refusal to attempt to teach yourself what you do not know, the Guide Whom God has given you will speak to you. He will take His rightful place in your awareness the instant you abandon it, and offer it to Him”
Sentences 3 through end of paragraph.
OK, I think that’s enough for now.
Don’t want to overload all of us.
Just now that it will be uncomfortable. It doesn’t feel right, right? We have spent our whole lives learning by understanding. Whether it’s a high school or college class, my Kundalini Yoga certification program that spanned an eight month period or simply understanding directions to assembling a piece of furniture, we have had to understand to move forward, to practice.
Jesus is teaching us to release our belief we understand anything to feel peace, to be at peace, to extend peace.
A tall, tall order, but HE believes in us.
Let’s get going.
Just practice as instructed.
I am right there with all of you.
Since you’re here… …we have a small favor to ask. More people are reading our posts, listening to our audios and watching our videos than ever before but far fewer are donating for it. As an all-volunteer ministry, you can see why we need to ask for your help. MiraclesOne provides ACIM resources freely however it takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe in encouraging others to practically apply the Course principles in their lives – because it might just make the one difference in your life. If everyone who reads, listens or watches and likes what we offer helps to pay for it we can continue to afford our expenses and keep our resources FREE to all ACIM Students. Monthly Donors receive free gifts in appreciation for their support.
