Yet another snow storm here, Bill called to tell me roads are not well-plowed and drivers were still going too fast for our treacherous conditions, oh well, this too, like everything, shall pass.
I love the lesson today. It spoke to me of the Holy Instant as it is only there/here/in the present moment that we are able to withdraw our preconceived notions/ideas/opinions about everything.
For me, it’s about relaxing, being mindful and rather than the endless chatter of the ego to which I listen far too often, it’s stilling the mind and asking a Source beyond our understanding for its meaning.
When I think about the preceding lessons, one of the earlier ones came to mind, I had to look it up, turn to page 20, tail end of Lesson 12 where Jesus states:
“What is meaningless is neither good nor bad. Why the, should a meaningless world upset you? If you could accept the world as meaningless and let the truth be written upon it for you, it would make you indescribably happy. But because it is meaningless, you are impelled to write upon it what you would have it be. It is this you see in it. It is this that is meaningless in truth. Beneath your words is written the Word of God. The truth upsets you now, but when your words have been erased, you will see His. That is the ultimate purpose of these exercises.” Paragraph 5.
I really need do nothing other than relax, breathe deeply, practice six times today for two minutes, select whatever my eyes light upon as randomly as possible and allow the process of “seeing” to unfold in a natural, gentle and loving fashion. No need to push, to get through the six practices, to try too hard to “get” the import of this lesson.
No need to understand whatsoever.
AND as we see things that we might define as meaningless differently, hmmmm….we will see all individuals, all scenarios, all events, all of what appears to be happening out there differently, aha! That’s the purpose of the exercises, isn’t it?
Have a wonderful day!
