I suppose I have no neutral thoughts on Lesson 16!
The line “Everything you see is the result of your thoughts” and this is everything we see. We say to ourselves, “Oh, it’s just a thought,” but that thought can contribute to the fear or love. Most times we are perpetrating fear and this illusory world even more.
This causes me to be more conscious of my thoughts. As I catch myself even today with the thought of a man I knew many years ago and must be in his 80s now. This person I heard recently had an illness, couldn’t breathe, and I recall their anger and bitterness that didn’t allow me to breathe and be who I was. As I recalled this, the same anger and bitterness entered my mind towards him. It took but a moment to recognize it and ask the Holy Spirit for His help in translating this from fear to love because of the twinge of guilt I felt.
I may not have thought of this person for many years, yet the thought I had in my mind of judgment still pervaded and rose easily in hearing their current situation. This thought then can bring me more judgment and guilt or as I quickly did, I knew the thought was not neutral and it was bringing me hell.
As we practice these lessons with everyday occurrences in our lives, the practice will bring the gift of peace.
